easter times

We had an enjoyable Easter weekend. We celebrated at the Suchy farm on Friday, March 29, and Saturday, March 30. Olivia, Violet and cousin Claire went for a ride in Grandpa Suchy's newest contraption: a big sled that can be pulled behind a four wheeler or snowmobile. Roxie even got in on the fun! The girls loved it.

Going for a ride!

We also colored Easter eggs. Grandpa's "DO NOT EAT" egg was a favorite! Violet was also proud of her idea to put a cross on one of her eggs.

The next morning, the girls were pretty excited to wake up to an Easter egg hunt!! They were a little confused why the Easter bunny visited them when it wasn't the "real Easter," but they figured out that he is a very busy bunny and must have had to come early to make it to all houses on time! They were running around like crazy finding eggs!

We celebrated with the Thronson family on Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31. We all went to church together, which was really nice. The girls picked out their own Easter dresses this year. I gave them a couple of choices, and of course they both picked out the same one! They looked so precious though and loved getting dressed up.

After church, we ate at a restaurant in Evansville...it is hard to cook for 19 people!! Then we returned to the farm to find out that the Easter Bunny had visited there too! So the girls went on an Easter egg hunt again, along with an Easter basket hunt. They had to be given a few hints before they were able to find their baskets. That Easter Bunny is pretty tricky!! They were both very excited by a set of lipgloss in their Easter basket. We had a very enjoyable Easter weekend and loved seeing our family members!!

beauty sleep...

I checked on the girls last night before I went to bed, and found them sleeping in the following ways. It sure made me smile. I had to call Jamie up to their room to take a look, and he had to put his hand over his mouth to stop himself from bursting out laughing. They must have had a rough day and needed some beauty sleep!

fun times

We went to Disney on Ice with the girls' friend Sylvia and her mom on March 2nd. We had a fun "girls day" and went out for pizza downtown before the show. The three girls sat at their own table, and were treated with a bottle of orange soda. They kept "cheers"ing to celebrate. Featured in the show were the characters from Cars, The Little Mermaid, Tinkerbell and Toy Story. The girls were pretty amazed by the special effects, especially how they were able to drive the Cars on ice! It was a fun day.

The girls also recently decided to put on their own production of "Cat in the Hat." They found the book on our bookshelf and worked together to recreate the scenes as shown in the book. Daddy was gone on an ice fishing trip the weekend of March 9th, so they practiced all weekend and put on a performance for him once he returned that Sunday. Violet played the parts of Sally's brother and Thing 1, while Olivia played the parts of Sally and the Cat in the Hat. I had to whisper them most of their lines, but they had a lot of fun and did a great job. They even used their imaginations to come up with props and scenes. Here is a photo of their opening scene:

We've also still been pondering our kindergarten decisions. Our name was drawn in the lottery for all day kindergarten at our home public elementary school, which we were happy about. We did not get drawn for either magnet school we wanted, so it looks like they will be going to our home school. We are #8 on the waiting list for one of the magnet schools, Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion, so there is a chance we will still be offered a spot there if eight people turn down their spots. So we will see what happens! It has been quite a process, so we will be relieved when it is finally decided.

The girls have still been participating in swimming lessons. They can now swim the length of the pool on their own, without a flotation device. We are going to finish out this session and then take a break for a little while from swimming. The girls wanted to try something else this spring and summer. They chose to try an ice skating class in April and a golf class in May (Daddy was pretty excited about that one). We left the decision up to them and that is what they decided, so we will see how they like it.
