The weather was pretty cold and rainy the rest of the weekend, so the girls were frustrated that they couldn’t go outside. We took them to Costco on Saturday morning just to get out of the house. Jamie met up with some friends on Saturday afternoon for an NFL draft party, so the girls and I spent the rest of the day together. We went to the mall for a few hours and just walked around, since it was a little chilly outside. Violet has developed a fear of elevators for some reason, so she bawled when the doors closed on the mall elevator. I also managed to be somewhat productive. It took me pretty much all day and night, but I managed to clean their winter clothes out of their closet and replace them with spring and summer clothes that were in storage. It was hard to do while watching the girls alone, but somehow I managed to finish.
Sunday, the girls were kind of crabby. I think they were sick of being stuck in the house. Violet fell asleep while eating her lunch and drinking her milk. She even started snoring with her sippy cup still in her mouth. It was pretty hilarious. Their naps were short. Violet took a 1 hour nap and Olivia took a 30 minute nap, so naps were over by 12:30. It was quite a long stretch until bedtime. They became very crabby at about 6:30. They saw some shoes I got at Target, which are like Crocs. I put them on their feet over their pajamas for something to do, and they immediately changed into funny, goofy, silly girls. They clomped around the house in those shoes, chasing and tackling each other, for an hour. We called them "magic shoes" because they immediately put the girls in a good mood.
Violet has been an early riser lately. She has been up at 5:30 am the last four mornings. Yikes! Olivia is going through a growth spurt it seems. She has been eating like crazy. We put food on her highchair tray, and it’s gone within minutes. Then she asks for more. Both girls say each other’s names now. Violet says “Dee-ya” for Olivia, and Olivia says “Dad-it” for Violet. Most words they say sound like some form of “Daddy.” That must be one of the easiest words for them to say! “Uh-oh” has also been very popular word lately, especially for Olivia. She will throw something on the ground and then say “uh-oh” like she didn’t do it on purpose.
Here are some pictures from the weekend.
