school bound

Olivia and Violet are very excited for kindergarten at Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion. They met their teacher, Senora Loayza, and saw their classroom last night. Their teacher is very nice, and is excited for the school year! They even have homework already. Their teacher sent home a star with them that they need to decorate with their goals for the school year. Olivia & Violet are excited to complete the project! The girls start school next Wednesday. I will be taking them to school on the first day to get them settled in, then they will take the bus to school after that. They are excited to learn Spanish, and can't wait to play on the school's awesome playground! :) I am a little sad that my girls are growing up so fast, but I know they are ready for kindergarten, and I am excited about this awesome opportunity and new stage in their lives!

fun summer times

Summer weather is finally upon us, just as summer is winding down. We've been having a fun month of August. On August 12, Olivia came up with a business idea. She decided to create her own company and have things for sale in our porch. She made her own sign, hung it up, laid everything out, then invited us to come and buy things, mostly candy, pencils and notebooks. It was pretty cute!

On August 13, we participated in a neighborhood parade. It was led by a police car and fire truck, which the girls thought was pretty cool. We rode bike around the neighborhood with many other people from the area. There were areas along the way where viewers threw candy to us, instead of the other way around! We started out toward the back of the pack, but the girls maneuvered around everyone so we could get to the front. Afterward, the kids were able to look in the fire truck and police car. It was pretty fun!

On August 14, Violet lost her second tooth. She lost it while at daycare, and actually found it this time! She put it under her pillow, and got some quarters from the Tooth Fairy in return. She thought the Tooth Fairy was so magical because she didn't wake up!!

On August 17, Olivia & Violet were thrilled to have their cousins William and Noelle stay overnight. We spent a lot of time outside because the weather was so nice! We rode bike to the park, played in the pool, hit golf balls, played tball, and more! Violet has been very determined to make it across the monkey bars at the park. She has been practicing for quite awhile!!

On Sunday, August 18, we went to the Crystal Cove Aquatic Center with a few friends from our previous daycare. Olivia & Violet had a blast swimming with their friends Evan and Sylvia!! It was a beautiful afternoon.

We took Olivia & Violet shopping for a new pair of tennis shoes for school. We went to about four different stores. Olivia was pretty decisive, while Violet had a difficult time making a choice!! They each picked out a different but both brightly colored pair of Skechers. They've been practicing tying their shoes the past several nights, and finally have it down!!

On Friday, August 23, we went to the state fair. We met up with Grandpa Thronson, and also went on some rides with cousin William. The girls had a blast! They did a lot of walking, but didn't complain too much. :) Their favorite things were the rides, the Budweiser Clydesdales, and the Little Farm Hands exhibit where they learned about the work involved with owning a farm. We also enjoyed the Flippen Out trampoline show, the Canstruction sculptures made out of cans of food, and the Floralpalooza exhibit showing various Dr. Seuss books recreated with flowers. The girls thought it was pretty neat that they got to eat Sweet Martha's chocolate chip cookies for breakfast! :) We had a very fun day!

camping fun

Last weekend, we went to my mom and dad's camper for some camping fun. Their camper is at a resort near Alexandria. Unfortunately, the weather was unseasonably cool and therefore the girls couldn't swim, but they found plenty of other things to do. They spent most of the afternoon hunting frogs with their cousin Emma and her friend Ella. They found one HUGE frog that they tried selling to neighbor campers for $30. They didn't have any luck with a sale, but they had fun trying! They also rode bike and played at the park. In the evening, we had a campfire, and once it was dark, the older girls taught Olivia and Violet how to play flashlight tag. They LOVED it and didn't want to quit to go to bed! The next morning, they went fishing with Daddy before breakfast. They each caught a few fish and thought it was a blast! They didn't want to go home.
