may the fourth be with you

Monday (May 4th) was Star Wars Day: "May the Fourth Be With You." We took the girls to the Minnesota Twins baseball game, where they celebrated with Star Wars Night. Between innings there was Star Wars trivia, the players were holding light sabers instead of baseball bats in their at bat photos, and there were other Star Wars activities going on. Olivia and Violet were giddy with excitement after meeting several Star Wars characters! Apparently I don't know my characters well enough though, I called a Jawa an Ewok and was immediately corrected. We walked around for two innings looking for Darth Vader, but we were not able to find him so the girls were a little bummed out about that. All in all, it was a fun night! And yes, we did spend some time actually watching the game!

We also had a lot of fun this past weekend. On Friday, May 1st, we celebrated my nephew William's 6th birthday at Pump It Up. All of the Thronson cousins were there, which was really fun! The kids all had fun jumping around on the inflatables and going down a super fast slide. I raced Violet through the obstacle course, I was trying to go so fast that I ended up crashing into my sister Terri at the bottom of the slide! And Violet still beat me! It was a fun time.

Happy birthday William!

On Saturday morning, May 2nd, we went out on Lake Minnetonka with my sister Nikki and her family. They just bought a boat so we were happy they let us tag along to try it out! The weather was just beautiful so we had fun cruising around and looking at all of the fancy houses.

The afternoon of May 2nd, we celebrated my brother-in-law Aaron's 40th birthday. They had a party at their house, we had a great time initiating the set of bean bag boards that Jamie made, which Terri gave to Aaron as his birthday gift.

On April 25th, we celebrated my niece Claire's 6th birthday. She had a pirate themed party at Arrowwood in Alexandria. We had a great meal, opened presents and then had fun in the Arrowwood waterpark. Everyone got a kick out of these adhesive mustaches!!!

weekend fun

Last weekend was really fun! On Saturday morning, we went to my nephew Alex's hockey game near our house. Even though he is only 9, we were so impressed at how well he and his team played! We had a great time watching him. My sister Terri was there as well with her two kids, so after the game, five of my nieces and nephews (Maya, Evan, Owen, William and Noelle) came over to our house to play for awhile. We walked over to the park near our house so the kids could play outside on such a nice day. They were having so much fun that my nephew Owen cried when it was time to leave!

On Saturday evening, my sister Terri and her family came back over to watch "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" (the first Star Wars movie made). Olivia and Violet had been wanting to watch Star Wars with Uncle Aaron since they knew he was such a big fan. During the movie, we had snacks such as Chewie's Cheese, Obi Wan Kabobies, Rebel Carrots, R2Dcorn, Wookie's Cookies and Vaderade. Olivia and Violet thought it was so fun!

On Sunday afternoon Olivia, Violet and I went to "Disney on Ice: Frozen" at the Target Center. After we ate lunch, Olivia and Violet disappeared upstairs for awhile, then came down ready to go. They had put on their Elsa and Anna costumes that they wore for Halloween and had also put on lipstick and eyeshadow. A 7-year-old's makeup job is not necessarily the neatest...but I went with it! They were very proud of themselves and said they wanted to look just like Anna and Elsa.

Olivia and Violet brought their own money with to buy a treat. Violet decided on cotton candy right away, which came with a princess crown. Olivia debated for a little while as we walked around, but when she saw a box of Skittles at a concession stand she knew she had found the winner! I chuckled to myself because...among all of the Disney merchandise...she thought regular Skittles were the best treat!

The show itself was AWESOME! It was pretty true to the movie, but some parts were left out or slightly modified mainly due to the fact that it was on ice. Kristoff was the best skater, he did a few flips which the girls were pretty amazed by! They were also surprised at how Sven and Olaf could balance on ice skates. There were a lot of other characters that made appearances, such as Mickey, Minnie, Ariel, and Cinderella. It was a great show and we had a really fun time together! Love spending time with my girls so much!

spring break

Olivia and Violet were on spring break last week. They went to their school's childcare program on Monday and Tuesday, stayed overnight at their friend Sylvia's house on Wednesday (Sylvia's mom even took them out for donuts!), helped Dad run errands on Thursday, and went to a movie with Dad on Friday.

Unfortunately, I had to work all week! After I was done with work on Friday, we headed out of town. We spent Friday night and part of Saturday at my parent's farm. The girls had a ton of fun making balloon animals at Grandpa and Grandma Thronson's. Their favorite thing to make was a hummingbird; they made so many that we ended up with a garbage bag full of them! They also enjoyed baking lemon bars with Granny and playing outside in the yard. They were pretty tired out from all the activity!

We spent part of Saturday at the Suchy farm also. The girls enjoyed driving Grandpa's tractor, running around outside, and helping Grandpa, Uncle Joey and Dad haul away some tree branches. They also thought Grandpa's hard boiled eggs were pretty cool, he boiled them with the brown peel from an onion so they looked pretty neat!

On Easter Sunday, we went to church, had a nice visit with Jamie's grandparents, then went to my sister Rhonda's house for a delicious meal. Grandpa and Grandma Thronson were there as well. After we were done eating, the kids realized the Easter Bunny had come!! Olivia and Violet didn't waste any time, they RAN around the yard searching for eggs. Some of them were pretty hard though, so they had to search for awhile!! They had a fun day and enjoyed spending time with their cousin Emma.
