We took the girls to a local hotel/waterpark last night. They have been talking about "birthday" and "swimming" for weeks, so they were pretty excited. They had a blast! They mostly played in the pool area for younger kids, which was very shallow and had a couple of waterslides and some spraying water fountains. Violet LOVED both waterslides, especially the biggest twisty one. She went down it several times. Olivia went down the big slide once, and decided that she didn't really like it all that much. When I caught her at the bottom, she had a pretty shocked expression on her face. We also took them in the bigger pool that was over their head. We held them on their stomachs and they "swam" by kicking their legs and moving their arms. I was surprised that they remembered these things from swimming lessons several months ago. They thought they were pretty cool to be "swimming" in the "big pool."
Since it was their special day, we let them have several treats - pizza, chips and ice cream. They were pretty happy about that! We gave them a few presents to open. They loved ripping off the wrapping paper but they didn't really care too much what was inside. Their favorite present was a helmet (which they called a "hat") and knee pads to use next summer, and they wanted to put those on right away. They looked pretty silly walking around, but they sure enjoyed it!
We are pretty lucky to have two very sweet and spunky girls. They usually love to give us a run for our money, but then they turn around and give us a hug and kiss which makes it all worthwhile.
