I had a conference yesterday with Olivia & Violet's daycare teacher. We have conferences twice a year, just to make sure the girls are on progress with their development. I found out that Olivia has become quite a leader during circle time. She likes to answer questions and request songs, and is (for the most part) a good example for younger kids. Violet is a little more introverted and loves to play on her own with books and puzzles. However, she also enjoys circle time and loves to sing along with the other kids. It really put it into perspective for me when their teacher said they are ready to move up to the preschool room in about a month. What???? Did you say PRESCHOOL? The most major changes with the move will be:
1. No more use of pull-ups (including during nap time)
2. No more sippy cups
3. The schedule is very structured, and they move through activities quicker than they do now because the kids are older
4. They have to raise their hand and wait for their turn to talk (okay, so they might have a lot of trouble with this one...)
Overall, they really enjoy their daycare and have a lot of fun there. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of days when they get bad reports, but we are fortunate to have a place they enjoy going to with people we trust to take care of them.
They have also discovered a treasure in our neighbor's yard. Yes...our neighbors have a great big trampoline. Violet LOVES jumping on it. She will flip and flop like a crappie, bouncing off her butt and her back and her head all at the same time. When our neighbors come outside, she will run over to the mom or dad and say "Can I jump on your trampoline? Pleeeaassse?" Olivia has been very scared of it, but finally decided to try it last night. She initially clung to the side net and took very small jumps. After a few minutes, she too was flopping around and trying to bounce Violet all over the place. We are hoping this will help get them out of the wimpy phase they have been going through lately.
